Why We Are Here…

The JavaCoach domain trilogy consist of JavaCoach.netJavaCoach.org, and JavaCoach.com. As the JavaCoach name implies, the primary purpose of these sites will be to promote Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) in general and the Java language and Java technologies specifically. The plan is to diverge the sites into three specialized areas. The Menus will be enabled one at a time until all as each module is developed.

This area, the .net site will contain topics of special interest that focus on Java/J2EE web development. Subject matter in this area will include architecture, frameworks, design patterns, network communications, security, and performance.

The .com site, will hopefully evolve into a commercial endeavor providing independent consulting, mentoring, and a variety of services covering all phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC).

The .org site will focus on Java applications and application development. Here we will approach the basics of Java as well as more advanced topics like file I/O, database access, threads, and graphics.

A career as a computer programmer is both challenging and rewarding. Most people don’t realize how much work is involved in creating a computer program. Actually, only a small portion of the work is writing code. Your job, as a programmer, is to translate the needs of the user into instructions that a computer can execute. First, you have to identify the problem the user wants to solve. Next, you have to analyze the problem and determine what is required to solve it. Then you develop a step-by-step procedure for solving the problem. Writing the code and creating an executable program is next. Finally, you must test your program to validate it’s output.

If you are thinking of a career as a Computer Programmer, this site is an excellent place to start. You will get an overview of computer hardware and software development and you’ll learn a systematic approach to problem solving. Before you know it, you’ll be learning how to write computer programs in one of the most popular programming languages around, Java. You’ll be able to use Java to write anything from small, utility programs to large, sophisticated Java applications. This is what Java and programming is all about.

Come back, visit often, and watch this site grow. Later, we will be adding more content and the ability to provide feedback and suggest new content. In time, it is hoped that this site will be a valuable resource to Java programmers everywhere. See you soon!
